Swiss-born Christian Marclay (New York City, NY) has been experimenting, composing and performing with phonograph records since 1979. His interest in records both as objects and bearers of sound is expressed in his sculpture, performance, video, and music. Marclay has performed his works in Japan, Europe and the U.S., often collaborating with such avant-garde composer/musicians as John Zorn, David Moss, Elliot Sharp, Arto Lindsay and Shelley Hirsch. Once called a "turntable dadaist," Marclay is currently focusing his efforts on his visual work.
